Earlier this month the British Standards Institute (BSI) carried out an accreditation audit at Industrial Copolymers against the Health & Safety Management Systems Standard OHSAS 18001. Following this audit the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) department were delighted to announce that the auditors were satisfied that ICL's systems meet the standard and as a result have been recommended for accreditation.
What is 18001?
It is an internationally accepted standard for Health & Safety management systems for organisations in all sectors. It provides a framework for organisations to control their H&S aspects, ensure legal compliance and to continually improve performance.
Why is this important?
There are several benefits to achieving this standard but the most important are; verifiable improvements in H&S performance, a reduction in accidents, potential to reduce insurance premiums and greater control in the area of compliance with H&S regulations.
